This project was created as part of the nGbK exhibition “Art in the Underground 2022/23: New Urban Publics”
"Learning from kotti" seeks to artistically negotiate the complexity and multi-layeredness of the Kottbusser Tor in the sense of a refexion space. Based on an aerial photograph, which will be shown at a U1/U3 rear track area, the viewers are invited to explore the digital work with their mobile device via a QR code. At the station and in the subway itself, cell phones are a constant companion for most people today. The work consists of 80 individual contributions arranged in a grid (digital tiles/website) that communicate the most diverse positions, access points, and information about the Kottbusser Tor in the sense of a reflection offer. For the content of the individual tiles / our work, we draw on the large content pool of the initiative Kotti & Co, the association Kotti-Coop and the design office image-shift. The individual messages consist of photos, graphics, quotes from residents, tradespeople, visitors, etc., infographics on the rental situation, social housing, everyday stories, problem situations, success stories and much more. In their entirety, they convey a multi-layered complex picture of theKottbusser Tor and its superdiverse social fabric. This is to be understood explicitly as a counter-position to the often very reduced media image of Kottbusser Tor as a problem space.
